A School of the Sacred Heart

Spirituality

Stuartholme fosters and encourages reflection and prayer in the lives of all students. We recognise that personal relationships with God, with self, with others, and with all creation are an integral part of a Sacred Heart Education.

Opportunities for prayer are offered regularly through pastoral care groups, assemblies, and as part of the ceremonial life of the School, when we come together to celebrate liturgical seasons, feast days and special events.

The centrality of the Eucharist to our community is evident in our masses which are celebrated regularly in the reflective, sacred space of our beautiful Chapel. Students participate joyfully in these hope-filled celebrations, and a student-led Liturgy Committee helps ensure the masses are engaging and contemporary. Boarders’ Masses are held in the Chapel on weekends, in collaboration with our Parish and neighbouring Catholic Boys School, Marist College Ashgrove.

Programs and retreats for all year levels offer an opportunity for reflection, and enhance the faith and spiritual journey of the students.

Whilst the Religious Education curriculum follows the Brisbane Archdiocesan guidelines, students also learn about the wisdom women, stories and charism of the Society of the Sacred Heart. Another essential part of teaching is for the girls to explore, understand and develop a deep respect for the various religious traditions of the world. Interfaith dialogue is one of the international priorities of the rscJ Sisters.
