At Stuartholme we understand that students learn differently and may require individualised programs during their educational journey. As such, our aim is to accommodate the strengths and learning needs of all our students so that they can develop intellectually, emotionally and socially.
Academic enrichment
Stuartholme recognises the importance of encouraging gifted and talented students to understand and utilise their unique abilities. Opportunities for enrichment and extension are provided to students through individual curriculum programs, extra-curricular programs, competitions and special events. Examples of programs include Future Problem Solving; mathematics competitions and challenges; and Year 12 extension programs for music and english.
Learning support
Our aim is to accommodate the strengths and learning needs of all students in accessing the curriculum, engaging effectively in the learning process and demonstrating successful outcomes. Our teaching staff strive to create a safe, yet challenging learning environment for all students. In addition, individual and small group support for students who require additional assistance transitioning into Year 7 and middle secondary studies is available for identified individual needs.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education
Stuartholme has a long history of providing educational opportunities for students with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background. We support scholarship programs for remote and regional students. We also provide educational opportunities for students locally.
The School fosters a culture that values indigenous heritage. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags are flown as a symbol of our commitment to the recognition of our heritage, reinforcing understanding and valuing the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
English as an Additional Language (EAL/D)
Opportunities to attend specialist classes in English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) exist for students whose first language is not English.
Support is provided by specialist staff who work with students in small groups. The EAL/D Program provides targeted English language enrichment across reading, writing, listening and speaking, as well as individualised academic support in key subject areas.
