A School of the Sacred Heart

Celebrating 100 Years

In 2020 Stuartholme School celebrates its 100 year Anniversary.

In celebrating 100 years, we take pride in the remarkable successes of the Stuartholme School community.

Our focus goal for the 2020 Centennial year is; Building community as a Christian value. Students, past and present staff, current and past parents, Alumnae and friends associated with Stuartholme School are an integral part of our Community and have ensured the spirit and values of Madeline Sophie Barat have been lived over the past 100 years.

During 2020 we invite you to reconnect with the School and join our Centennial celebrations.

Our History & Tradition

Stuartholme School is an international School of the Sacred Heart. The Society of the Sacred Heart is an international congregation of Catholic religious women, established by Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat in France in 1800. One of 200 schools in 40 countries.

Stuartholme was established in 1920 with only five young girls.

During World War II, Stuartholme became the 42nd General Hospital of the United States Army. Unfortunately, it was not possible for students to stay at the School, so the School was packed up and moved firstly to Canungra and then at Southport.

For much of its history, Stuartholme operated as a boarding school only. Although the School now caters for both day and boarding students, it remains Brisbane’s only Catholic girls’ boarding school.
