Stuartholme School’s Sophia Lecture – A Deep Sense of the Sacred: Australia’s First Nations Spirituality and Connection to Country

29 August 2023 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm

We warmly invite our community to attend the upcoming Stuartholme School Sophia Lecture and introduction of the Reconciliation Action Plan with Guest Speaker Professor Anne Pattel-Gray.

Date: Tuesday 29 August 2023

Time: 3:30pm-5:30pm

Venue: Stuartholme School Chapel.

Title: A Deep Sense of the Sacred: Australia’s First Nations Spirituality and Connection to Country

Abstract: Professor Dr. Anne Pattel-Gray will explore Ancestral Narratives of the Creator’s actions and interaction with Aboriginal peoples by defining the Creator’s relationship within our understanding and worldview before the colonial invasion. This method sets the foundation for the construction of an Aboriginal hermeneutical and exegetical process that allows Aboriginal peoples the freedom to re-read the bible from our own pre-colonial perspective. In doing this, we are challenged to decolonise our minds and be open to reading Biblical texts through an Aboriginal cultural lens and understanding.  This endeavour is to develop a truly Australian Aboriginal theology born out of and embedded in our land – Our Mother Earth.

Canapes and Drinks will be served from 5:15pm.

Please refer to invitation here.
